The Minister for Energy, Dr Matthew Opoku-Prempeh has stated that the energy sector of the country will continue to provide the needed support for the national economy.
To him, as Sector Minister, he will remain optimistic with hard work, teamwork, tenacity of purpose, and an unalloyed sense of patriotism.
During a maiden meeting of the Board of Ghana National Gas Company for 2022, Dr Opoku-Prempeh commended the Board of the crucial role that the company has to play in the LPG for development agenda and also within the context of their commitment to the Paris Agreement.
The Board was also reminded of the key contribution it has to make with the relevant stakeholders in the realization of the President’s Petroleum Hub vision by 2030.
To him, the meeting provided the opportunity for open and frank discussions on the future of the company, which is inextricably tied to Ghana’s Gas prospects.
In his remarks, Dr Opoku-Prempeh reiterated the importance of gas in our nation’s industrialization agenda and the need for the Board to take vigorous steps to ensure the establishment of the country’s second Gas Processing Plant.
“This is my view is long overdue, especially as the population expands and over 70% of our fuel requirement for power generation is met by natural gas,” Dr Opoku-Prempeh said in his Facebook post.
