Renowned Musicain, STevie Wonder has obtained Ghanaian citizenship with his family few hours of arriving in Ghana.
At the Kotoka International Airport, the renowned singer was met by business leaders, officials from the Diaspora Affairs Office, and a local cultural group putting on a traditional dance performance.
Wonder made the announcement that he intended to go permanently to Ghana in an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, which coincided with the visit.
The singer of “I just called to say I love you” claimed that he felt more connected to people in Ghana than he did in the US.
Stevie Wonder reportedly took the Oath of Allegiance and obtained the Certificate of Citizenship by Registration in the Jubilee House, formally becoming an official Ghanaian citizen, a few hours after the news of his visit surfaced. Stevie Wonder conveyed his happiness at being given this honor.
“I think it’s simply the heritage I sensed in Ghana; I believed my civilization existed there and that I was there at its inception. I sincerely thank each and every one of you.
The nicest part of the remainder of my life is getting to do what God has promised, as I often say: this is just the beginning,” he remarked.

His condition was retinopathy of prematurity, which inhibits the development of the eyes and can cause retinal detachment, which can lead to blindness.
