Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital for some time now experienced several emergences of pubs and drinking spots in most parts of the city.
The emergence of restaurants and fast foods delivery outlets in the capital has also seen a tremendous increase over the past years.
The new development is gradually providing jobs for the many unemployed youths in the capital as there are opportunities to do one thing or the other to earn a living.
Koforidua is known for its numerous educational institutions but the issue of employment has always remained a challenge as there are not enough jobs to absorb the growing youth.
Intravenous Infusions, Linda Dor, B-foster bakery, Y&K, media houses, insurance, and banks are major companies Koforidua can boast of, with the rest being shops and fast food outlets.
The situation was not the best until a few years ago when people started investing in pubs, drinking spots, and fast foods outlets which is gradually helping to deal with the issue of unemployment.
Many youths have entered into such businesses and it seems it is yielding some results despite a few challenges operators may face in line with their duties.
Some major pubs in Koforidua currently are Dadi’s bar, Total 2, Bar 205, Cassa bar, Timberland, Club 7, Fresh Air among many others.
The New Juaben North and South municipalities respectively are also expected to have an increase in internally generated funds as those businesses are supposed to pay taxes.
Some of the pubs are also known to harbor commercial sex workers and also deal in drug-related activities that put the name of others into disrepute.
