Some aggrieved youth of Sakyikrom in the Nsawam Adoagyiri constituency has appealed to the Inspector General of Police IGP to stay away from any Chieftaincy related issues at Sakyikrom since they are poised and have vowed to protect the existing customs and traditions of the Ayoko Royal Family.
Speaking during a press conference at Sakyikrom, the Mmerantehene of Sakyikrom Nana Akonnor Takyi Ako alleged that following their long standing chieftaincy dispute between Buafi and the Ama Tawia gate a case which is still pending at the High Court , one ‘Toroo’ from the Ama Tawia gate is going round displaying pictures of him and the IGP that he has the backing of the IGP therefore with the police escort he will aid the Ama Tawia gate to occupy the palace.
The Mmerantehene further accused ‘Toroo’ of rocking on the shoulders of the Nsawam Adoagyiri District Assembly Security Council to use uncustomary and unlawful means to settle their differences.
He however urged the IGP to take keen interest of the activities of the accused person ‘Toroo’ and take the necessary action against him because his actions are inimical to the Ayoko traditions and customs and will damage the highly earn reputation of the IGP.
The Acting Kyidomhene of Sakyikrom, Nana Kwaku Atope Atiemo expressed fear that if the concerns of the youth are not addressed immediately the anger of the youth may degenerate into chaos when the Ama Tawia gate decide to forcefully occupy the palace without going through the appropriate customary procedures.
He blamed the self style chief who was the then Regent Chief of Sakyikrom Nana Osae Duodu of masterminding and feuding the recent chieftaincy dispute despite his awareness that he does not qualify to be the legitimate chief of Sakyikrom.
He said Nana Osae Duodu signed Memorandum of Understanding in 2011 which allowed him to be the Regent Chief of Sakyikrom for only five years after which he was to vacate the stool since he is a royal of fathers lineage of inheritance but the stool is for royals of mothers lineage of inheritance.
