The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has launched a scathing critique of the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), describing it as lacking seriousness.
Speaking to journalists on his recent decision to sit with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament, A Plus explained that his choice was a response to what he perceives as weak leadership within the NPP.
According to the outspoken MP, the current leadership of the NPP has failed to uphold the values and promises it made to the people of Ghana.
He accused the party’s top hierarchy of prioritizing personal and partisan interests over national development, leaving many Ghanaians disillusioned and struggling under the weight of economic hardships.
“I have watched the NPP leadership closely, and I can confidently say they are not serious about addressing the real issues affecting Ghanaians. That is why I have chosen to align with the NDC on key issues of national interest,” A Plus stated.
He further indicated that his decision was not an act of defection but a deliberate move to hold the government accountable and support policies that would benefit the ordinary Ghanaian. “This is not about party colors. It’s about choosing the right side for the people,” he emphasized.
The MP’s decision has sparked heated discussions in political circles, with some commending him for taking a principled stance, while others are saying otherwise.
Meanwhile, the NPP leadership is yet to officially respond to A Plus’s remarks. Political analysts predict that his decision could influence dynamics in Parliament, especially on contentious issues that require cross-party support.
