The presiding Elder of Pentecost International Worship Center (PIWC) in Koforidua Elder Frederick Darfuor says the world needs good men to positively influence society for God.
According to Elder Frederick Darfuor, the widespread corruption, insincerity, immorality and other rots in society is an indication that the world lacks righteous men with integrity to radiate the glory of God in their endeavors to make the world a better place for all.
“… There are those who think that being good is just having the resources and being good to people, blessing their lives being of help and attending to the needs of people as we are discussing Cornelius. How you come about your goods with which you do people well does not matter, but there is one side of the school where you have to do good but doing good must be done with the right goods or accouterment. That is why I am saying our world is in the need of good men”
Speaking at the climax of the National Pentecost Men’s Ministry Week (PEMEM) in Koforidua, Elder Darfuor, who is head of the pharmacist department at Engresi Government Hospital, lamented the fact that the world is in a bad state, it is confused and truth diminishing.
“For instance talking about truth, I have made it a point as much as possible, to tell the truth about every situation, I remember one day we were in a certain meeting something happened that I was not aware of, and then it was raised and I said no I am not aware of this, and everybody began to say all kinds of things, I said my friends I don’t care what you will say, I am not like you, what I don’t know I don’t know, do you expect me to lie? I don’t lie as others do, and at that moment everybody was quiet why because I have realized that even sometimes for us leaders and managers, sometimes to look good even when we are supposed to do the right thing we lie to defend ourselves so that we are seen as good men, as people in charge and control but a lie is a lie whether it is told at the workplace or in the church, in the house or the family with your wife”.
He explained that ” I am saying this to underscore the fact that our world is in a bad state, our world is confused and truth has been turned outside down, good standards have been turned outside down, good names are viewed now today as the bad men and rather the bad ones are seen as the good ones, and so if you want to equip men to possess the nations then these are the things that we want to turn around, these are the things that we want to change “.
He said good standards have been lowered corrupt people are hailed by society while few men who chose to be sincere are seen as bad people.
According to him, Ghana needs good men to turn things around in government and all spheres of society therefore admonished men in the church of Pentecost to be exemplary leaders in their endeavors.
“Let us look at the typical case of Ghana, now we have elected people, we have put them in positions, some have been appointed, some also have risen through ranks and have become what they are today, as CEOs, as managers, as big men, and all the kinds of people that we can mention;
But you will agree with me that the majority of these people in businesses are not making any positive impact on our nation and so every morning you tune in your radios, there is one scandal here or the other”.
Elder Darfuor bemoaned that “It is unfortunate that these things have crippled in even into the church, and I will say, so-called men of God have also found themselves in some of these scandals in various kinds, sometimes financial malfeasance, other times it is issues of morality all kinds of things happening around us and when you choose to do the right thing you are seen as a strange one, you are seen rather as the odd one out when you want to stand for the right”.
The PEMEM week at PIWC-Koforidua was observed with activities including keeping fit and breakfast meetings, capacity building on Identifying suitable mentors for employable skills, and career development facilitated by Elder Dr. Gibson Annor-Antwi former Registrar Pentecost University.
The Resident Minister of PIWC-KOFORIDUA Pastor Musa Yahaya commended the PEMEM leadership for their hard work in putting together spirit-filled activities to celebrate the week.
He charged men in the church to show leadership with integrity in their homes, workplaces, and all spheres of life like Cornelius to help possess the nation for Christ with their influence.
