The principal of Jackson Educational Complex, Theodosia Jackson has practically begged the government to include creative thinking and innovation in the curriculum.
As an educationist, Theodosia believes the inclusion of these courses will help the youth solve some problems in the country.
In an interview on Luv News, she noted that the youths are the future leaders in the country, and so they need to be equipped with the skills to help the nation.
“We are confronted with myriads of problems which need vibrant and well-nurtured young people to defy the odds in solving existing national problems,” she added.
She echoed the importance and need for the government to revise the curriculum and include these skills so students can focus on technical and vocational skills.
According to Theodosia, the existence of unemployment in the country is because the youth are not equipped with these skills so if these courses are included it will save the youth and country from unemployment.
“Technical and vocational schools must be promoted and resourced adequately to enable students to undergo rigorous practical training for sustainable livelihood and job creation,” she explained.
During the interview, she enlightened that people who are interested in solving problems and also their own business should be given more access to technical schools.
“Technical schools are not meant for students who are academically handicapped but people who are poised to solve challenges and create jobs for themselves and other people”.
