Hon. Samuel Adongo, National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for New Juaben North has sparked controversy by claiming that the One District, One Factory (1D1F) initiative is non-existent.
According to Adongo, the government has not provided any funding for the project, instead, only facilitating as guarantees for loans from banks and “if you are not able to pay, they bank will arrest you or take your properties”.
On Bryt Adekye Mu Nsem with Kwamina Sam Biney, Hon. Adongo assured constituents that his outfit will soon establish three factories to help create employment and that, this is not a mere promise as made by the ruling NPP.
“There is something called one district one factory but today I’m saying this, there is nothing like one district, one factory and this is not only in my constituency but rather national issue, but they (NPP) will not tell you the truth” he stated.
Hon. Adongo noted he has participated in several programs and meetings concerning this one district one factory and all indications point out that there is nothing to show for their existence.
“The whole issue is that the government hasn’t given even one pesewa to any individual to build a factory but they are only facilitating to guarantee for you. If you go for loan at a bank and you are not able to pay back, the bank will arrest you or take your property and that’s the truth. Anyone who will say what I’m saying is not true should come with evidence for me to also provide with evidence” he stated
He stressed “When you say one district one factory without resourcing them, what does it mean, if a particular government couldn’t make Ghana a better one, a new government is coming to do that”.
