The General Secretary of Pentecostal Council, Rev. Emmanuel Barrigah has refuted the claim that the operation of church activities is the main cause of the rapid spread of Covid-19.
According to him, there is no evidence because the church is one of the places that the safety protocols are being well observed, therefore that statement is untrue.
Speaking in an interview with Abena Pokuaa Ahwenee on Dadi 101.1 FM, he explained that per the information provided by the Minister of Information, churches are still allowed to conduct weddings but they shouldn’t organize weddings receptions.
“Kojo Oppong Nkrumah explained the whole issue quite well, he said that we should practice the safety protocols and limit the number of people who will be allowed for the weddings but receptions shouldn’t be conducted”, he said.
He added that churches are not operating at full capacity due to the social distancing protocol to the safety of the church members and the same protocol will be used for weddings.
“We will ensure that the social distancing rule will be observed at weddings as well, we will have a limited number of people so when we hit the target no one will be allowed into the auditorium”
He ascertained that churches are doing their possible best to curb the spread of the Coronavirus so no false information should be entertained.
