Nana Oye Bampoe Addo a former Gender, Children, and Social Protection Minister has characterized the four contenders for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer post as incompetent.
She based her conclusion on two factors: a perceived split within the NPP and a lack of public interest in the election.
“They are all weak candidates. People are not even discussing the election, unlike ours” she said in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday.
According to Madam Bampoe Addo, the ruling NPP is basically squandering money.
According to her, Ghanaians would support the NDC, led by John Mahama, regardless of the NPP’s decision because they think he is prepared to handle the problems facing the country.
As the leader of the economic management team, Dr. Bawumia may have helped the NPP, but Madam Bampoe Addo wasn’t sure, calling him the worst vice president in history.
Dr. Bawumia has not succeeded as vice president, she argued, and it is doubtful that she will do any better.
What was once thought to be an inevitable occurrence has now evolved into the much awaited and hotly contested NPP presidential primary.
Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Food and Agriculture Minister Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and former Mampong, Ashanti Region, Member of Parliament Francis Addai-Nimoh are the four candidates moving on to the final round of the primary.
