Some boarding students of St. Paul’s Technical School in Akyem Kukurantumi in the Eastern region are lamenting about the poor quality of food being served to them.
The students claim groundnut is mixed with flour to prepare tasteless groundnut soup for them to combine with rice. Again, they were recently served with porridge without bread for about a month.
“They serve as with Gas; which is groundnut mixed with flour. We call it gas because after eaten you will fart by heart. Sometimes they serve as raw porridge without bread for a month” some students claimed.
According to the students, this fuelled their anger when they heard the matron smuggling some food items on Sunday.
There was chaos on the campus of St. Paul Technical School (SPATS) Sunday, May 30, 2021, when students in the School attacked and impounded a taxi cab transporting alleged stolen food from the school.
The students some armed with sticks and other implements chased and pounced on the taxi which was transporting the quantities of food with the matron onboard.
The matron and the taxi driver abandoned the Taxicab and escaped sensing danger.
The students smashed the car and deflated all four tyres of the taxi.
Items identified in the car were nine buckets of groundnuts paste, one bag of millet, four boxed of tin tomatoes, three bags of rice, three bags of flour, two bags of sugar, and One jerry can of cooking oil all believed to be stolen by the Matron from the school stores.
The items have been sent to the police station as an exhibit.
One suspect alleged to have loaded the food items into the taxi on campus is currently in police custody to help in the investigation into the incident.
The Principal of the school has made a former complaint to the police.
The principal of St. Paul Technical School (SPATS) in Akyem Kukurantumi in the Eastern region has been indicted for allegedly conniving with the matron of the school to steal food meant from students.
Some staff is questioning why the Principal allows the matron to take storeroom and kitchen keys away to her house while it is compulsory for all departments to submit their keys to the Principal’s office before leaving the school.
Sources in the school told mybrytfmonline.com that, they have suspected the matron for a long time.
She has reportedly had a confrontation with the security on duty after rejecting an attempt by the security to search a taxi she was on board while leaving campus.
“The Principal is aware of what the woman has been doing. This is not the first time. The last time, we made her return some food items to the kitchen.”
Principal Benjamin Adjabeng declined to comment on but said the school will use the internal structures to deal with the matter.
