Ransford Owusu Boakye, the mayor of New Juaben South, disclosed that the recent darkness in several significant parts of the city is the result of thieves in the municipality cutting electrical cables that connect to the street lights.
According to him, partial darkness in the city at night is one of the greatest issues he has, and after talking with engineers, it was discovered that criminals are suddenly cutting the wires at night, resulting in the darkness.
“I wanted to restore the street lights when I became mayor of this town, so I called my engineers. After consulting with them, I discovered that thieves had begun cutting the wires, and that the darkness wasn’t caused by the street lights.”.
Hon. Boakye went on to say that he has begun discussing strategies to obtain wires to repair the street lights with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
“I’ve contacted ECG to discuss how we’re going to fix the situation, and if we find or capture any thief, that person will be punished with in accordance with the law.”. He added.
