Following rumours of the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. Archibald Yao Letsa, recommissioning the 18 ambulances given to the region under the one constituency, one ambulance policy by the ruling NPP government, he has come out to debunk the rumour describing it as malicious propaganda.
According to Hon. Archibald Yao Letsa, they the regional ministers across the country are to receive the commissioned ambulances and take personal welfare in the commissioning of the ambulances.
“I never recommission any ambulance. It is a falsehood. The rumour of myself recommissioning the ambulances spread before the ambulances even arrived in the region. What I did was a SIMPLE CEREMONY to show the ambulances received by the region to the residents,” he explained.
When asked of the cost involved in the ‘simple ceremony’ to showcase the ambulances to them, Hon. Letsa asked Abena Pokua Ahwene, the host of Efa wo ho morning show host on Dadi 101.1 FM not to worry about that.
“There was no budget for that. I just used some canopies and chairs so don’t worry about the cost. I can pay for the items I used”, he lamented yet he refused to tell the host of the program as to whether he paid for the chairs and canopies from his own pocket.
Every effort to know whether Volta regional minister used the taxpayer’s money to display the already commissioned ambulances proved futile as he kept shunning from the question the said: “I won’t answer that question
“They have got it wrong if they claim my simple ceremony of showing the ambulances to my people is a waste of time and resources. Many were happy and glad to see the ambulances especially those who were not privileged to watch it on the television,” Hon. Yao Letsa told Efa wo ho show host.
History:
Few days after the commissioning of the 307 ambulances promised by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo under one constituency one ambulance policy, rumours came out that the Volta regional minister, Hon. Archibald Yao Letsa is recommissioning them.
This some section of Ghanaians see no reason to do that as they think it is a waste of time and resources especially consuming taxpayers money.
