Villarreal midfielder Thomas Partey is expected to be left out of Ghana squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The West African giants will return to action in September for the continuation of the World Cup qualifiers. Ghana will take on Chad and Mali on September 4 and 8 respectively in a highly competitive clash as qualification for the mundial heat up.
Partey, who recently joined Villarreal is currently facing legal issues after being charge with five counts of rape in the United Kingdom.
The alleged offences took place between 2021 and 2022 when he was playing for north London club Arsenal.
The former Arsenal midfielder appeared in court in the UK on August 5 and was granted a conditional bail.
Meanwhile, the midfielder is expected to return to court at the Old Bailey on 2 September, raising concerns about his availability for the international break.
With Otto Addo set to announce his squad for the Matchday 7 and 8 games of the Mundial qualifiers next month, Partey could be left out of Black Stars’ squad for the games.
Ghana, who sit at the top of Group I after six games, will hope to continue their momentum ahead of the games as they aim to secure a fifth World Cup qualification.
