Today, Monday, 11th October 2021 is International Day of the Girl.
In 2011, the United Nations declared October 11th as International Day of the Girl Child due to the advocacy seen around the world.
The International Day of the Girl seeks to bring awareness and solutions to the unique challenges that girls around the world face every day.
The theme this year is “Digital generation. Our generation”
Inequalities girls face include lack of access to education, nutrition, legal rights, medical care, and discrimination and violence, and forced child marriages.
Centre for Gender Research, Advocacy, and Documentation at the University of Cape Coast will commemorate the day on the theme “Theme: My Voice, Our Equal Future”.
