As part of efforts to improve Transportation in major cities and Towns and make it affordable, the Government has introduced the CODA Drive initiative.
CODA Drive is being funded under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP) and eradicates poverty and creates wealth for commercial drivers, okada, and Pragya riders.
The new initiative is also expected to help address road safety within the Coastal Development Zone.
Ghana, for some time now has unofficially adopted the service of Motorcycle also known as “Okada, Tricycle (Aboboyaa) and Pragya.
Pragia as it is popularly called in Ghana originates from India and some unemployed youth are capitalizing on it to earn a living.
Taxis all over the world have a reputation for being the king of the roads they ply, but the emergence of motorized tricycles in Ghana is threatening to radically turn the country’s transport system on its head.
Under the CODA Drive intervention, CODA will offer Bajaj Qute four-passenger quadricycles to drivers and okada riders on hire-purchase for use as public transport.
