Residents of Maame Krobo in the Kwahu Afram Plains South are living in fear after the beheading of two people.
According to the residents, the continuous killing within these few months in the community needs urgent attention.
The Fulbe communities of Ghana and the Fulbe Youth Association of Ghana are calling on the government, international organisations and all the security agencies to deal with this canker to promote peaceful coexistence.
According to them, between December, 2023
and May 2024, five Fulbes have been killed including three who were beheaded with several properties costing millions of Ghana Cedis stolen.
Mr Musah Barry, the Secretary to the Fulbe Communities of Ghana, government’s effort in resolving these attacks is minimal and there’s the risk of dire threat to security since tempers are on the rise therefore the to help avert the killing of our people like animals.
He said more than Fifty Fulbes have been killed and their people are willing to attack but as communities they have intervened to enhance peace at Maame Krobo.
In response to this perceived injustice, the Fulbe communities have expressed its
intention to take justice into
their hands which will not speak well about a country which many are looking up to especially heading towards election so therefore the need for urgent action to avoid further confrontation to ignite
imminent clash.
He said if the heads of these two heads are not found, they will never allow peace to prevail despite their patience.
During the peak of this tragic incident our Honourable Members of parliament, there were several meetings involving representatives from the Kwahu Afram Plains South Farmers Association,
chiefs and residents who voiced out their grievances for an amicable solution for a peaceful coexistence but all the momentum gathered did not yield any positive result leading to the killing of innocent souls.
Regrettably, this tense atmosphere has led to the displacement of several
Fulbe individuals, some of whom are struggling to participate in
essential civic activities such as the
ongoing limited voters’ registration exercise as well increasing the hardship among our people since they are scared to undertake any useful venture due to fear.
