Some angry youth of Akyem Old Tafo in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region are demanding the immediate transfer of the embattled senior housemaster of W.B.M Zion Senior High School (AMEZSS) over his inhumane treatment of students.
According to the angry youth, the senior housemaster has been involved in many misconducts and atrocious acts against students in the school.
The youth say they will deal with the teacher if he is not transferred.
Two students were lashed mercilessly by the Senior House Master identified as Mr. Dagar resulting in severe injuries of one of the students -Patrick Frimpong- a form two General Arts student.
The incident occurred on Thursday, October 29, 2020, around 10:00pm but the video about the incident leaked on Saturday sparking anger and attracting widespread condemnation.
According to one of the victims, the housemaster accused them of mocking him.
“We laughing over some fond memories as boys boys and cracking jokes but all of a sudden the house master who was passing by said we were laughing at him. Then he called us started lashing the two of us by heart all over our bodies” the victims narrated.
After the act, the housemaster reportedly sacked the two students from the boarding house on a fateful night.
The School has set up a committee to investigate the incident
However, the Assembly Member for Old Tafo Akyem -Ahenebronum Electoral area Addo Sarpong said the Unit committee in the area will petition the school and Ghana Education Service to demand investigation and transfer of the teacher.
He said the teacher has been accused by many students of inhumane treatment on campus which is a source of worry to parents.
According to him, the teacher has been in the school since 2003 and has become a “demigod” in the school.
