The recent theft of a 100KVA transformer in Akyem Asene has sparked heightened concern among residents and officials.
Residents of Akyem Asene in the Asene Manso Akroso district woke up to a grim reality as their electricity supply was abruptly cut off due to the brazen theft of a 100KVA transformer. This incident underscores a troubling trend of transformer thefts plaguing the Akyem Oda district.
Ing Maxwell Essel, the manager of the Akyem Oda district ECG, voiced his grave concern over the rampant thefts, emphasizing the significant financial burden of replacing stolen transformers. He implored residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity near transformers to the authorities promptly.
A visit to the scene by ACP Rev. Adane Ameyaw, the Akyem Oda divisional Commander of police, shed light on the challenges faced by law enforcement in addressing the issue.
ACP Ameyaw highlighted the lack of adequate logistics, such as motorbikes and patrol vehicles, hindering their ability to monitor and combat transformer theft effectively.
Both ECG and the police are urging community members to collaborate closely with law enforcement to identify and apprehend those responsible for these criminal acts.
The call for collective action underscores the urgent need for concerted efforts to safeguard critical infrastructure and ensure the uninterrupted provision of essential services to communities across the Akyem Oda district.
