Farouk Al-Wahab, an international diplomatic consultant, has shared insights on the effectiveness of campaign messages in changing voters’ minds.
Speaking on Bryt Adekye Mu Nsem with Kwamina Sam Biney, Mr. Al-Wahab emphasized that campaign messages rarely influence electorates’ decision.
Naturally, he said Muslims are not supposed to engage themselves in any political activities, not to talk of voting, indicating “you can even consider or check all the Arab countries and see how many of these countries vote”.
According to him, politicians should not campaign on tribal and religious ways because it doesn’t work to change anyone’s mind.
He stressed the Nation Democratic Congress tried but it didn’t work same applied to the New Patriotic Party tried and it didn’t work as well.
“Someone who has made his/her mind to vote doesn’t go by the words of any politician, tribal politics do not change voters’ party affiliations but are rather tactics used by politicians” he stated.
He also highlighted the strong relationship between Christianity and Islam, emphasizing that there is no religious or tribal basis for conflict and therefore urged Ghanaians to desist from such actions.
Mr. Al- Wahab was expressing concerns on what Hon. Martin Opoku Prempeh, Running mate for the NPP Flagbearer is using for his campaign and advised politicians to manage their speech because there is nothing in the Quran that talks about election and that, when you don’t vote for a particular candidate, amounts to haram.
