One of the most powerful forces in Tunisian politics, the UGTT labour union, has urged President Kais Saied to quickly put in place a new government.
Eight days ago, Mr Saied sacked the prime minister, suspended parliament and took sole charge of the country.
The union said the forming of a new government had to be speeded up in order to confront the challenges of an economic crisis and the pandemic.
Many Tunisians, deeply disillusioned with their political parties, have supported the president’s actions. But his opponents accuse him of staging a coup.
