Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the violent disturbances that disrupted the Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun on July 11, 2025.
The incident occurred after Deputy National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chris Asamoah, and Minister Hawa Koomson were reportedly assaulted at the St. Peter’s Society Polling Station in Odorkor.
Eyewitnesses recounted that the assailants arrived in a pickup truck, overpowered police personnel on duty, and forcibly took control of the polling station.
The arrested suspects, identified as 46-year-old Musah Muntari and 43-year-old Ali Saeed, also known as Mboma, are currently assisting police with investigations.
In a statement issued on July 23 and signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, the police indicated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend all other individuals involved and bring them to justice.
