The Asamankese Circuit Court Presided over by His Honour Abass Abubakari Adams has sentenced two men, Daniel Ayensu and Kingsley Amankwah to four years imprisonment in hard Labour for causing damage to Security Post at Anweam.
Daniel Ayensu,29 years and Kingsley Amankwah,22 years pleaded guilty for causing harm, Contrary to section 172(1)(a) of Act 29/60 and will serve two years each.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, Christian T. Apronti said on 7/06/2023 at about 6pm,the Patrol Team of Ghana Oil Palm Development Company at Kwae arrested four young men of Anweam for stealing palm fruits from the Estate and handed them over to Asuom Police for Investigation.
He said on the same day at about 7:25pm, some Youth of Anweam including the two accused persons went to the Town Security Post and caused damage over the arrest of their colleagues.
The police said the Youth who are on Police wanted list together with the accused persons kidnapped two of the security men on duty and sent them to unknown location and caused damage, until the intervention of Chief of Anweam, Assembly Member and Police before the kidnapped men were released.
After assessment,the security post damage was valued at ¢3,600.00 and later,the accused persons were arrested, charged and sent to court for prosecution.
