Two passengers -male and female onboard Okada have been burnt to death after their motorbike crashed with a vehicle at Adawso in the Akuapem North Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The deceased persons have been identified as Kwaku Amponsah, 23, and Abigail Mawuli, 24.
Their bodies have been deposited at the morgue by Police.
Mybrytfmonline.com has gathered that the incident occurred Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at about 7:30pm.
The Okada rider was reportedly speeding recklessly and in the process collided head-on with the Toyota fish Vehicle onboard with passengers.
The motorbike was instantly gutted by the blazing fire fueled by petrol burning the two passengers onboard to death while unconscious at the roadside.
The rider sustained serious injury and was rushed to the Eastern Regional Hospital where he was on admission.
The driver of the commercial vehicle sustained a minor injury.
Motorbike accidents have become problematic to the Eastern Regional Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD).
Barely two weeks ago, the Eastern Regional Commander of the MTTD of the Ghana Police Service, had Chief Superintendent Stephen Ahiatafu explained that motorbikes (Okada) and tricycle (Pragia) killed 20 out of 60 people who died on roads in the region from January to February 13, 2021.
Superintendent Ahiatafu indicated analysis by the MTTD shows that ” motorcycles and tricycles are killing more people than the vehicles and most of them didn’t have a license so we are going to embark on series of checks on them the public should not take it to us the police is harassing them. When we arrest you we will ensure that the law takes its course” He said.
