Two policemen have been cited for their involvement in multiple bullion van robberies in the Greater Accra Region, an official statement from the Ghana Police Service has said.
The country has recorded four bullion van attacks within a spate of a year.
A statement issued by the Police on Monday, 7 March, 2021 said the public will soon be updated on the robberies without compromising the ongoing investigations.
“The Ghana Police after several months of painstaking intelligence-led operations at the highest level , has made a major breakthrough in the investigations into multiple Bullion Van Robberies recorded in the Greater Accra area.
“Preliminary investigations have established the involvement of two policemen among a number of other suspects. The investigations are continuing and we expect to soon bring all culpable people to face justice.”
“The public will be given further details as soon as it is possible to do so without compromising the ongoing investigations,” the police statement said.
In June 2021 Police officer was shot dead by suspected armed robbers in an attack on a bullion van at Adedenpo near James Town in Accra Monday.
Reports said the officer who was with the National SWAT team of the Police was escorting the money in the vehicle and was seated in the front seat.
