Ghana’s Black Meteors will face Mozambique in the second round of the U-23 African Cup of Nations qualifiers next month.
The Black Meteors were exempted from the first of a three-round qualifying series for the tournament to be staged in Morocco next year.
Mozambique, who participated in the first round of the qualifiers defeated Mauritius 5-1 on aggregate to set up the Ghana tie.
Coach Ibrahim Tanko and his charges are expected to travel to the East African nation for the first leg before the reverse fixture at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
The first and second legs clash between Mozambique and Ghana have been scheduled for October 21-23 and October 28-30 respectively.
Ghana will be hoping to defeat Mozambique in the two legs of the qualification round to progress to the final round of qualification.
The fourteen teams qualified from the second round will play the third round (knockout from home and away matches) qualifying seven teams for the final tournament in addition to hosting Morocco.
The final tournament of the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations will serve as the final qualifier round for the Men’s Olympic Football tournament.
The Black Meteors missed out on the 2020 Olympics in Japan after finishing fourth at the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt – 2019.
Ghana is yet to play at the Olympic Games since 2004 in Greece.
