On the 10th of February, 2025, the Upper West Regional Minister, Lawyer Charles Lwanga Puozuing, chaired a crucial Public Health Emergency Management Committee (PHEMC) meeting at the Regional Coordinating Council.
The meeting focused on the rising cases of meningitis in the region. The Upper West Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Damien Punguyire, and his team presented an update on the situation.
In his presentation, Dr. Damien highlighted the key issues including preventive measures and the importance of early detection. He stressed that timely reporting to health facilities is the most effective way to combating the disease and reduce its impact.
The Regional Minister expressed his gratitude to the Health Team for their comprehensive update and assured them of his full support in the fight against meningitis in the region.
The meeting also included a session for questions and answers, fostering constructive dialogue on the wayforward.
