The Ultimate Voice of the Western Region has raised serious concerns over the appointment process for the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas). In a petition addressed to President John Dramani Mahama, the group alleged that the acting CEO is engaging in activities that compromise the transparency and integrity of the selection process.
According to the petition, the acting CEO has been mobilizing Nzema opinion leaders and providing financial incentives to secure endorsements for his candidacy. Additionally, the group claims he is funding a press conference orchestrated by Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira Constituency executives to portray him as the ideal candidate for the position.
The Ultimate Voice of the Western Region also alleged that the acting CEO, in collaboration with certain Nzema leaders, sought presidential approval for his appointment, but the request was dismissed by the President. They argue that these developments point to undue influence in the selection process, potentially sidelining the interests of the Nzema people.
In their petition, the group emphasized the vision of the late President John Evans Atta Mills and Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, stating that the Nzema people must have a central role in Ghana Gas operations.
They firmly rejected any form of endorsement influenced by political patronage, monetary inducements, or self-serving interests.
The group reiterated that the leadership of Ghana Gas should reflect the rightful participation of the Nzema people and urged President Mahama to disregard endorsements that do not authentically represent the community’s aspirations.
The petition was signed by key representatives of the Ultimate Voice of the Western Region, including its President and Executive Secretary, Anthony Morkeh, General Secretary Bernabeth Ackah Kokochie, and Convener Jonas Kabutey.
Several prominent figures were copied in the petition, including National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Chief of Staff Hon. Julius Debrah, former Ghana Gas CEO Dr. George Sepah Nyankey, and Members of Parliament Hon. Armah Kofi Buah, Hon. Dorcas Affo Toffey, and Hon. Kofi Arko Nokoe.
The group reaffirmed its confidence in President Mahama’s leadership and commitment to justice, fairness, and national development, calling for a transparent and merit-based appointment process.
