A 3-member United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP-WCMC) team visited the Ghana Maritime Authority on a fact-finding mission.
This was part of the ongoing Institutional Capacity Needs Assessment (CNA) exercise undertaken by UNEP, in collaboration with the Government of Norway under its Oil for Development (OfD) Programme, to support the Sustainable Oceans Plan development and to strengthen ocean governance in Ghana.
The team’s main purpose was to explore ways for UNEP to enhance national capacities through the OfD Programme.
The team was led by Devashree Pillai, a Legal Analyst from UNEP’s Disasters and Conflicts Branch, and was warmly welcomed by the Authority’s team, from the Technical Department, along with other officials from the Hydrography, and Maritime Services Divisions.
