The United Party (UP) has appealed to dissatisfied supporters of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to rally behind its presidential candidate, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, ahead of the next general election.
In a media release signed by the party’s Director of Communication and Spokesperson, Solomon Owusu, the UP said it was not surprised by what it described as the deepening leadership crisis within the NPP, claiming the internal wrangling had vindicated its earlier predictions about the party’s succession challenges.
According to the statement, although some political observers expected the UP to celebrate the NPP’s internal difficulties, the party was instead focused on offering Ghanaians what it described as a credible alternative capable of transforming the country’s fortunes.
The party urged frustrated NPP supporters to channel their votes towards Alan Kyerematen and parliamentary candidates of the United Party, arguing that Ghana needs competent, visionary and transformational leadership to address its economic and governance challenges.
The release described Mr. Kyerematen as a leader with proven policy formulation and implementation capabilities, capable of steering Ghana away from its dependence on primary commodity exports towards an enterprise-driven economy.
The UP outlined its vision of an enterprise economy, which it said would focus on formalising the informal sector, creating indigenous capital, promoting technology and skills development, deepening local participation in infrastructure delivery, reforming the tax system, improving education and healthcare, and promoting discipline and equitable opportunities.
The party further reminded voters that the secrecy of the ballot gives every Ghanaian the freedom to vote according to their conscience, regardless of political affiliation.
It stressed that every vote has the power to shape Ghana’s future and called on all eligible voters, particularly those disillusioned with the NPP, to place their trust in Alan Kyerematen and the United Party.
The statement concluded by affirming the United Party’s commitment to serving Ghana and expressed confidence in the wisdom and discernment of the Ghanaian electorate.
