Security personnel at Fomena Constituency in Ashanti Region are seething with rage among as “untouchable thugs” wielding guns and ammunition have been terrorizing supporters of the independent candidate declared the winner of the parliamentary elections.
Sources say anytime the suspects were arrested, an order from above pressurizes them to release emboldening them to commit more atrocities.
The Police arrested and seized more deadly weapons and ammunition as well as gallons of patrol from the thugs who were going to launch deadly attacks on some polling stations believed to be a stronghold of the Independent Candidate.
Pressure from above on the police has led to the release of the thugs.
The armed men reportedly roaming in a vehicle at Fomena were earlier arrested in the afternoon.
The men were roaming in strongholds of the independent Candidate Andrew Asiamah Amoakoh.
Sources say they were arrested at Adumenu, a community in the constituency. The suspects reportedly resisted arrest until they were overpowered.
After their release, they went about to torch Electoral Commission’s District Office in the area.
