Agric Minister, Dr Kwaku Owusu Afriyie Akoto has visited the Tono Irrigation project in the Upper West region to inspect work ongoing in the area.
The dam is located in the Kasena Nankana district and it will bring relief to the people of the area when completed.
The project is the biggest farming irrigation project in Sub Saharan Africa and it is being funded by the World Bank.
The dam which broke down many years ago will serve as a source of water for the farms of about 3000 beneficiary farmers once the rehabilitation process is finalized.
Previously electricity was used to provide energy for the dam to function but now, the dam is being powered by solar panels.
