OResidents of Bukunor in the Yilo Krobo district of the Eastern region have vowed not to allow heavy-duty trucks to pass through the community again.
According to aggrieved residents, two persons have been killed with others sustaining serious degrees of injury as a result of an accident involving two heavy-duty trucks.
The Assembly member for the Oterkpolu Electoral Area, Ebeneezer Tei Narteh, a demonstration on Monday, explained the accident occurred when the two heavy tipper trucks lost control after failing their breaks.
He said, the heavy tipper trucks have been conveying limestone from Asesewa to Tema but has failed to ensure the safety of residents, considering the nature of that stretch of the road.
Hon. Tei Narteh, however, warned the community will never allow any heavy-duty trucks to ply the road until safety measures are putting in place.
He also called on authorities to as matter of urgency, remove the accident vehicles from the scene to prevent any further unforeseen event.
Meanwhile, the mother of a deceased, who has lost one twin and the other injured, also spoke to the media about her ordeal, saying it has not been easy for her to cope with the matter.
Some aggrieved residents also appealed for immediate attention as they now live in fear.
Report available to the reporter revealed, the owner of the trucks is yet to visit the scene and victims to access the state of the accident.
There was a confrontation between residents and six-member police personnel who wanted to forcibly clear the road which had been blocked.
