The Upper Manya Krobo Constituency Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have refuted recent media reports claiming they endorsed Mr. Evans Srenyame as the District Chief Executive (DCE) nominee.
In a statement issued on February 5,2025 the executives clarified that only three out of the twenty-eight members supported Mr. Srenyame for the position during an internal appraisal.
According to the statement, the constituency executives received eight applications for the DCE position, shortlisted three candidates, out of the three, Mr. Emmanuel Kwesi Lawer,the current constituency communication officer also three term Assembly member received overwhelming endorsement as preferred nominee.
Mr. Srenyame reportedly came in second during the evaluation process.
The executives expressed concern over the misinformation circulating in the media and urged the public to disregard the false reports.
“The publication claiming that we endorsed Mr. Evans Srenyame as DCE is entirely false and inaccurate,” the statement read. “Only three executives supported him, while the overwhelming majority have not endorsed him. We disassociate ourselves from this erroneous publication.”
The statement further emphasized the importance of verifying information before dissemination.
“We implore the media and the general public to exercise caution and diligence in verifying information to prevent the spread of misinformation and confusion on this matter,” the executives added.
The constituency executives assured the public that the process was conducted transparently and fairly, with Mr. Emmanuel Kwesi Lawer emerging as the preferred candidate.
The race for the District Chief Executive (DCE) position in the Upper Manya Krobo Constituency has intensified, with strong backing for Hon. Emmanuel Kwesi Lawer from key youth groups and party executives.
Three influential youth groups—Young Allied, The Green Army, and Door to Door—have thrown their weight behind Hon. Emmanuel Kwesi Lawer, urging the party’s leadership to appoint him as the next DCE.
According to the groups, Lawer is the only candidate they will accept, citing his experience, dedication, and ability to work closely with the MP to drive development in the constituency.
“We have seen cases where DCEs were brought in from outside the constituency, only to struggle with understanding the needs of the people. This time, we insist that the choice of the constituents be respected,” a joint statement from the groups emphasized.
