Outgoing Assembly Members in the Upper West Akyem District of the Eastern Region have proposed ¢76,000.00 to be given to them as end of service benefit which is also known as ex-Galatia.
If approved each Assemblymember (38members) will go home with ¢2,000.00 alongside motorcycle which was donated to them recently Nationwide by the local government ministry.
The 38 members included 12 government appointees and 26 elected members.
This was revealed by the Presiding Member of the Assembly, Mr. Eric Kwasi Mensah in an interview with Kofi Atakora, Joydaddymultimedia.com reporter.
According to him, the proposal is before the District Coordinating Director and Finance committee for approval.
He was of the view that “all policies formulated by parliamentarians are executed by Assembly Members hence the need to factor them amongst article 71 officeholders for that reward.”
