The Driver of the District Chief Executive for Asene Akroso Manso in the Eastern Region has been arraigned before Oda Magistrate Court Tuesday, March 22, 2021, for assaulting a district planning officer.
The accused -Kofi Adu alias Deba pleaded not guilty.
He was granted bail to reappear on April 15, 2021.
The Prosecutor Inspector George Oteng told the court presided by His Worship Kwasi Apiatse Abaidoo that, the complainant, Benjamine Quarcoo went on leave on November 17, 2020, and resumed on December 15, 2020.
Upon his resumption, he noticed that his office was under key and lock therefore sat on a chair in front of the office waiting for the District Coordinating Director, Nketiah Donkor to open the main gate for him to have access to his office.
But while seated, he heard the District Chief Executive for the area screaming and called him out.
Upon stepping out, the accused pounced on him with heavy blows and slaps without any provocation.
The Prosecutor said, the complainant’s spectacle was damaged and the shirt tore as a result of the physical assault.
He also sustained injuries. A medical form was issued upon formal report to the Police which was duly endorsed by the medical Doctor.
The accused however refused to cooperate with the Police for investigation by ignoring all invitations extended to him on orders of the DCE -Alex Incoom.
