The Minister for Communications and Digitalization (MoCD) and the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West Constituency has commissioned ICT centers loaded with computers in some communities to enable students to have broad knowledge about ICT in the Eastern region.
The community ICT centers which was an initiative by the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), an agency under the Ministry for Communications and Digitalization (MoCD) was aimed to facilitate the provision of universal access to all persons through the use of affordable Information and Communications Technology for Socio-economic development in the country.
GIFEC is focused to achieve universal access through the use of ICTs in Ghana.
Speaking to the newsmen, Hon. Ursula Owusu said that the ICT centers will help improve teaching and learning at the various communities in the region.
Hon. Ursula Owusu said that the government is focused on improving teaching and learning, and utilizing technology to facilitate student learning in the various communities.
She indicated that the ICT centers will also help introduce students to best practices in digital citizenship.
Hon. Ursula Owusu stated that the government is committed to extending ICT access to communities in the country.
Hon. Ursula Owusu commissioned completed ICT projects in Oda-Awisa and Akyem Asuom on Saturday, October 28, 2023.
She will commission some completed ICT projects in other communities in the Eastern region in the coming days.
