US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has vowed to beef up support for Africa’s Sahel region.
He’s offered $150 million in humanitarian aid for the region, including democratic Niger.
The top US diplomat also said the US wants security ties with Niger, where Washington has stationed forces and built an air base to fly drones deep into the Sahel.
Blinken pitched the US as a better partner than Russia, which has been expanding its influence in the region.
