A training workshop for Judges on the need to protect freedom of expression and safety of journalists has been held at Ho, Volta Regional capital.
Information minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah in his remarks, conveyed the request of colleague journalists who want quick punitive actions against perpetrators of attacks against journalists.
“It is the expectation that quick punishment will deter the next batch of state and non-state actors from attacking Journalists in the discharge of their duties to the nation”, he stated.
Journalists in Ghana over the past years have endured victimisation from sections of the public, politicians and even security agencies.
Ahmed Hussein Suale and others have also lost their lives in the line of their duties as media practitioners.
