Members of Parliament have been urged by Health Minister Bernard Okoe Boye to maintain their humility and show respect for their constituents.
He reminded the MPs that they were elected to represent their citizens in the Legislative House, as per their mandate.
Okoe Boye’s warning relates to the minority’s ongoing battle for control of the majority chamber after Speaker Alban Bagbin declared the seats in Agona West, Amenfi Central, Fomena, and Suhum to be vacant. These seats are represented by their MPs, who have decided to run as independent candidates or on the ticket of another party.
Dr. Okoe Boye strongly denounced the Minority’s actions on Tuesday, October 22, when they chose to stage a marching parade in the House, during an appearance on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” program.
He asked the MPs to remember their days of rigorous campaigns to win the votes of their constituents saying “when you want power, you will suffer. This is why I am shocked that someone who has suffered to gain power is doing a march pass”.
He urged the Members of Parliament to stop fighting and get back to important legislative business, arguing that the commotion in Parliament is unnecessary and that the people’s will will always win out regardless of what the NDC Minority does.

“If the will of the people is that this government should stay, no force can stop it”, he added.
