Ghana’s Vice President, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has reassured the public that the newly appointed members of the Ghana Armed Forces Council will actively seek to “reset” the Ghana Armed Forces in parallel with ongoing efforts to reset the entire country.
Vice President Opoku-Agyemang, who was named Council Chairperson by President John Mahama, said following the swearing-in ceremony of the Council members on Monday, March 24, at the Defense Ministry.
“As a Council, we accept the responsibility to serve diligently, with loyalty and patriotic zeal, to reset Ghana and the Ghana Armed Forces, ensuring that we have peace and stability.”
She added, “We want to ensure that the Ghana Armed Forces retains, sustains, and even extends its globally established reputation.”
In order to keep the Armed Forces effective, well-equipped, and able to meet the demands of national security, the Ghana Armed Forces Council’s principal responsibility is to advise the government on military issues.
Vice President Opoku-Agyemang said he was certain the Council could work well together, bolster the military, and support the country’s efforts to maintain security and promote peace.
