Afia Pokua popularly known in the media as Vim Lady has stated categorically that, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) suspending the former Central Regional Chairman Allotey Jacobs was a bad decision the political party made.
According to the renowned journalist, the decision by the National Executive of the biggest opposition party (NDC) was bad considering the timing of the suspension of the former Central Regional Chairman. It also states that it is time the NDC focus on election 2020.
“Nana Addo and his NPP team are technically using the COVID-19 for the campaign. But if you look at how Nana Addo and his team are handling the campaign, technically they are campaigning. Sarkodie is on Twitter saying the President is managing it well and others are also doing the same, you think it does not inure to his benefit? Even Lydia Forson who usually attacks the government has expressed her faith in the way issues around the virus is been handled. She only expressed her disappointment when Bawumia compared COVID-19 to Dumsor.”
“There are only two things before us as a country and that is COVID-19 and Election 2020 but the main focus of all Ghanaian politicians is election 2020. So if you’re a party foot soldier who follows the politicians and insult people I’m telling you that their major focus is 2020 elections”.
“NDC do be doing some of these things because If you do, you create room for people to say you are hijacking the political party for some people and take out descendants of Attah Mills from the party. Now Koku Anyidoho is not happy, Allotey Jacobs is also not happy and you’re going to an extent of suspending him.
So if you don’t suspend Allotey what will happen? The best to do is to call Allotey and talk to him so he can understand that party comes first and he says he won’t listen, then you ignore him and go on with the 2020 campaign so that you can focus so that we can see that you have a united front and give NPP a run for their money so that If Nana Addo is even able to win election 2020, he will appreciate the stiff opposition, that is the kind of contest we want”. Afia Pokua said.
On Wednesday, May 6, 2020, a signed letter by the party’s National President, Mr. Allotey Jacobs is said to have breached articles 46(1), 46(6) and 46 (8) (b) of the NDC constitution.
