The Deputy National Campaign Manager, Honorable Lawyer Alex Segbefia has stated that the initial claims from NPP concerning the old register are false because the old register is more credible than the new register.
According to him, statistics have shown that there is little or no difference between the two registers, this he revealed in an interview on Dadi FM, 101.1 with Abena Pokuaa Ahwenee.
He also stated that the NPP government did the country no good by making Ghanaians register for the voter’s ID card again especially considering the pandemic the world is facing now.
“If you look at the statistics figures then there was no need for a new register, if you use the old register then you haven’t lost anything there is very little difference and it shows that the old register was more credible”, he added.
He explained that when you take the total number of dead people in the old register you would realize that the total registration figures in both registers match.
Adding during this COVID-19 period, the government should have considered the risk people will be taking since the country keeps recording new cases each day.
“The EC should have used this year for NIA registrations for the majority of Ghanaians and not just 10 million or 11 million of them because the requirements were just NIA, Ghana Card and passport and you don’t have enough so you should have used this year to do that”, he suggested.
