It has been revealed that the man who killed his wife at Bibiani Dagede also subjected the accused to inhumane treatment during their two years marriage to the extent that, he forced the now-deceased wife to drink urine at some point.
The Prosecuting Officer Chief Inspector Benjamin Owusu Agyemang revealed this in Bibiani Magistrate Court Presided Over by His Worship Peter Dapileh Banoe court on Friday, August 13, 2021, when the accused made his first appearance in court.
He narrated that, on August 5, 2021 one Mr. Enock Gyasi Ekoobah popularly known as Rasta called the Bibiani police on phone and informed them that an unknown assailant has stabbed and killed their daughter in her bedroom.
He added that, when the police went to the scene, they found the deceased in a pool of blood and took the body to the mortuary for an autopsy.
According to him, the accused Mr. Emmanuel Okyere Baffour 28- years is a businessman and has married the deceased Joyce Johnes Affi Jacika for two years and both resided in Kronum-Afrancho a suburb of Kumasi on Offinso Road.
He stated that one day the deceased called her mother and complained to her that her husband has been abusing by beating her with a belt and sometimes even urinate into a Don Simon drink and forced her to drink.
However, the deceased mother advised her to exercise patience that should not divorce. But she could not endure the abuse anymore hence packed out of the house when the husband had traveled to Accra.
She went to seek refuge at her parent’s house at Bibiani Degede.
On August 5, 2021, about 11:45 am an eyewitness saw the accused in front of the deceased’s parents’ house at Degede while the parents were not in the house.
He said the accused violently attacked the deceased with sharp metal and killed her instantly and went into hiding.
According to him on August 6, 2021, the police went to court for the warrant and through their collaboration with Kumasi Manhyia Zongo police the accused was arrested at Oforikrom and handed over to Bibiani police, and provisionally charged with murder.
The prosecution officer however prayed the court to remand the accused to remand him into Police Custody to give the Prosecution ample time to conclude the investigation.
The court, therefore, remanded him to reappear on August 27, 2021.
After the court proceedings, Lord FM’s Hamza Mohammed interviewed the uncle of the deceased Mr. Enock Gyasi Ekoobah (Rasta) uncle who said he was happy that the accused has been remanded and appealed to his family members to remain calm for the law to work.
Mr. Kwame Affi the biological father of the deceased Joyce Johnes Affi Jacika and father-Inn-Law to the accused added that he was shocked when he saw her firstborn in the pool of blood and pray to the court to deal with the accused.
