The Western Regional House of Chiefs has erected a statue in honor of President Nana Akufo-Addo, recognizing his remarkable contributions to the region’s development.
According to Issah Fuseini, Western Regional Communication Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the president was unaware of the statue’s unveiling and didn’t attend the event for that purpose.
Speaking to Bryt Adekye Mu Nsem ,Mr Fuseini said that , the president came to western region to appreciate them for believing in him and voting for him twice.
Fuseini emphasized that President Akufo-Addo did not commission or unveil the statue himself. Instead, he was surprised by the gesture during his visit to the Western Region to express appreciation for the region’s support. Fuseini urged social media users to correct their misinformation, noting that if the president wanted to erect a statue, he would have done so in a location where he could frequently see it.
“Nana Kwasi Agyemang, Omanhene for the Lower District, unveiled the statue, expressing gratitude for the president’s outstanding work in the Western Region. The statue was built by the Western Regional House of Chiefs, who consulted with the regional minister to find a fitting way to honor the president during his visit”.
Mr.Fuseina said that he wasn’t even aware of the statue but it was after the meeting that they said to everyone that they will be going to unveil a statue with the president but I didn’t go and most of the journalists we invited didn’t go because we didn’t have any idea about it and it wasn’t part of our schedule.
When we talk about development, western region is part so it necessary for them to do something to show appreciation that’s why they did the statue for him.
“The statue was built by the western regional house of chiefs by asking the regional minister that what can they do to honor the president when he comes there for the visit and the regional minister gave them the idea and where they are supposed to do it”.
