Government through the Amenfi Central District Assembly is making committed to provide artisan workshops to help most of the Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) to acquire skills training to help them become economic independent.
According to the Amenfi District Coordinator, Mr. Emmanuel Boateng who spoke on behalf of his District Chief Executive Hon. Hockson Amponteng, he stated that communities like Ankwaso, Daboase, Manso Amenfi, Area 7, Adjakaa-Manso Juabo and Agona have provided PWDs with fridges, wheelchairs, fufu pounding machines, sowing machines and many others as well as cash amount to help improve their standard of living.
He said, the District Assemblies Common Fund is one of the government’s programme to support them in every quarter of the year in the various districts across the country.
He, however, advised beneficiary PWDs and their parents and guardians to take care of the items and make good use of the money given to them by using for its intended purposes.
The Chairman for the PWDs in Amenfi Central District, Mr. Anthony Fosu used the opportunity to appeal to stakeholders and NGOs to consider to help members as government alone cannot provide all their basic needs.
He again urged his fellow members to cultivate the habit of maintenance culture of the items and thank government for his tremendous support.
Beneficiaries and their parents after receiving the items and cash amount showed their appreciation to the DCE, and Government and promised to make good use of the items given to them.
