The Member of Parliament for Wassa Amenfi East Constituency in the Western Region, hon. Nicholas Amankwah has underscored the need to build the capacity of assembly members to enable them to effectively and efficiently perform their duties so as to accelerate development in communities.
According to the MP, building their capacity occasionally will also help them to educate and sensitize their respective residents to understand their duties to avoid pressures from residents.
Thus, he has tasked the Wassa Amenfi East municipal Assembly to build capacities to the newly inaugurated Assembly members to enable them perform their duties effectively and efficiently.
He was addressing the Wassa Amenfi East Municipal Assembly at the inauguration of the First Section of the 6th Assembly in Wassa Akropong on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Amenfi East MP has asked assembly members to plan towards achieving developmental projects in their respective electoral areas to accelerate communities.
He noted that the performance of duties by members was essential for the progress, growth and development of communities to improve livelihoods.
The MP who is affectionately called Home Boy addressing the Assembly observed that achieving developmental goals should be the yard stick to assess the progress, growth and development of communities which could also translate into job creation and wealth for the youth.
He used the opportunity to congratulate all the newly elected Assembly and Unit Committee Members on their victory and also took the opportunity to remind them that, they jointly have a mandate in their collective quest to develop the Amenfi East.
Notwithstanding, the Amenfi East lawmaker has urged immediate past assembly members to continue partnering the newcomers to share ideas and to work towards development for the good people of Amenfi East.
Hon. Nicholas Amankwah emphasised the need for assembly members to enhance the mobilisation of Internally Generated Funds.
He also urged them to collaborate closely to devise innovative strategies for collecting the necessary resources for the development of their localities.
