The Head of Education Research and Training of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service (MTTD), Superintendent Alexander Obeng has said that the Ghana Police Service is going to enforce drivers to pursue the MTTD rules and regulations as COVID-19 is a concern.
According to him, many people are losing their lives through car accidents on carelessness and indiscipline on the roads by drivers in this pandemic era.
He revealed that Ghana Police service has stopped checking driver’s license due to the pandemic that is prevalent over the whole country.
“Ghana Police Service has put measures in place to collaborate with Road safety commission and other road safety advocates to “campaign arrive alive’’ for drivers to reduce frequent road accidents in the country,’’ he stated.
Speaking in an interview with an Accra based radio station, Superintendent Alexander Obeng said they will keep on using nose marks, hand sanitizers, and gloves to help them to continue with operation effectively in the country.
Superintendent Alexander Obeng added that due to COVID-19 they have taken prudent measures to educate drivers and the public to reduce the current level of road accidents in the country.
