Residents of Atiwa West constituency in the Eastern region are appealing to the President and the National Executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to as a matter of urgency change their candidate for the parliamentary slot, Hon. Kwasi Amoako Atta, the Road, and Highways minister or risk losing the parliamentary seat.
As tension rises in the constituency after the disqualification of Dr. Samuel Owusu Akyem by the Obiri Boahen -led vetting committee, the youth in the area are constantly pressuring authorities to rescind the decision and bring back Dr. Akyem for a peaceful contest.
The latest from the youth is a press conference at Kwabeng Palace Court to remind authorities of the party that they no longer want Hon. Kwasi Amoako Atta as their member of parliament.
The Secretary of the aggrieved youth, Yaw Buabeng disclosed the secret behind the disqualification and advised authorities on what is best for the constituency.
However, the PRO of the youth, Kwakye Maxwell, also emphasized that if National executives fail to humble themselves and listen to their plea, they would defect to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and probably vote against the NPP.
A member of the group, Joe Darkwa, also added that the Kwabeng Anglican Senior High Technical School does not have school buses despite their constant petitions to the MP who seem not to care about it at all.
