The Headmaster of St. Peters Senior High School, Sir Kwame Owusu Aduomi has stated that the country needs more tertiary institutions and should start working towards that.
Mr Aduomi reaction comes as a result of the ongoing WASSCE saga in the country and how students do everything possible to pass the Examination.
Adding his voice on Dadi FM 101.1, he said that students have a lot of zeal to pass exams and will try to pass by taking dangerous shortcuts or depending solely on examination leakages which are locally termed as “apor”.
According to him, students in their quest to get access into tertiary schools do everything their power to achieve their goal which most of them rely on such materials rather learning hard.
He, therefore, pleaded with the citizens to work hard and try to build more tertiary facilities to accommodate SHS graduates.
“Students of nowadays depend so much on “apor” to pass their examinations yet the universities and tertiary institutions in the schools are not enough for all of them”, he added.
Mr Aduomi went on and averred that the country considers people as “nonentities” if they do not make it into tertiary schools and that is why there is pressure on the students which should not be so.
He added that when more institutions are created, students with average results can also get the opportunity into tertiary schools.
“We need to open more tertiary institutions so every student can benefit, the ratio of student to tertiary schools is very poor and that is disturbing”, he pleaded.
